Goals & Challenges

Modstrøm A/S is among Denmark’s largest energy companies with over 150 sellers in their team. Modstrøm A/S aimed to simplify their entire digital buying journey, from the website and sign-up flows to digital marketing efforts, lead tracking, and brand positioning.

In collaboration with Modstrøm, their entire digital presence was reassessed with a greater focus on generating sustainable leads. The goal was simple: to combine Performance Marketing initiatives with Performance Branding initiatives.

From a heightened focus on Trustpilot (from 2.7 to 4.0 stars) to a creative narrative about using energy for what truly matters.

The result hasn’t just been a flow of digital sign-ups equivalent to 5 full-time sellers; they’ve also gained over 6,000 followers on Instagram, increased their intake of qualified solar panel and heat pump leads for their energy optimization department, while CPL has decreased by 32% on average.

In conjunction with their TV2 campaign, their brand position has shifted (according to a YouGov analysis) by 1.5% in the market.

Creating subscription customers 100% digitally has never been harder. It requires transparency, simplicity, a fantastic tracking setup, and a well-crafted retention/Winback stream via email and paid social. The solution was a complete restructuring of the above, removing unnecessary noise and reducing multiple touchpoints, while still telling the most important Unique Selling Points (USPs) and case stories throughout the customer journey.

Server-side tracking setup


After onboarding with Modstrøm, we quickly discovered gaps in their tracking setup that their previous agency hadn’t focused on. Through Google Tag Manager and their IT department, we established a robust server-side tracking flow, storing data in local storage. The result has been significantly lower CPL prices and a better understanding of where the budget should be most effectively allocated.
