Goals & Challenges
After an impressive start to the collaboration and a fantastic introduction to the Danish market back in February 2023, Cork Padel has experienced significant growth in both revenue and profit. With Meta and Google leading the scaling efforts, Cork Padel has decided to expand the product to the rest of Scandinavia, a journey in which we are naturally involved as trusted partners.
The challenge Cork Padel faced was primarily the long buying journey for their products due to their high price range. Consequently, both the repeat purchase rate was almost non-existent, while the profit margin was on the lower end.
In early February 2023, Cork was a newcomer to the market, known to only a few in the Danish community. Establishing themselves in a market with little demand and at a price five times higher than competitors seemed challenging until we helped them get started.
The solution:
ICP and Offer creation
When good marketing meets a solid product, magic happens. As the only ones in the padel market, Cork Padel bats are built to address tennis elbow with cork technology. The communication strategy we built aimed to connect with padel enthusiasts who wanted to play more but couldn’t due to pain. With our unique solution to this problem, it was simply about identifying and selling the story of a better lifestyle on the court with a Cork bat.
Creators & Community Storytelling
In continuation of building our Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) and strong hero offer, we lacked authority in the padel community. Therefore, our creative strategy focused on establishing collaborations with well-known padel players who could spread the word in the community and create User-Generated Content (UGC) for us to use in paid social media campaigns.
Profittracking and alot of creative testing
The Cork bat has a low margin with a DB of under 40%, making it essential for us to know the profit of all our marketing activities, down to each campaign on Google or each creative tested on Meta. Through Reaktion, we have not only implemented a new and improved server-side tracking setup but also optimized towards profit across all our digital purchases, which has been crucial in our creative testing. Due to a price range of over 2,500 kr. per bat, the buying journey was long, which also meant that even with a 7x ROAS, we could sometimes lose money on a creative. Therefore, it was essential to measure POAS (Profit on ad spend).
A selection of Cork Padel initiatives:
Profittracking
With a low margin and a high price range, it was crucial to optimize our digital purchases through Google and Meta based on profit per sale rather than just a high ROAS.
Creative testing
UGC content, creator content, and a quick iPhone picture of the bat turned out to be the best-performing creatives due to the raw, authentic feeling they convey.
Storytelling from experts in the community
In collaboration with Cork, we established a large roster of well-known padel players to play with Cork and use in our communication.
